Eat That Frog: 21 Ways to Stop Procrastinating and Get More Done In Less Time, by Brian Tracy; Berrett-Koehler Publishers; 2nd edition (January 1, 2007) "When a problem is manageable it is always neglected." - Winston Churchill
I tend to procrastinate. I tend to let things go from small to big problems. I tend to let deadlines go to the wire before taking them full on. If this sounds like you, then you should read and incorporate the messages from this book into your daily life.
"Eat That Frog" takes a very simple approach to procrastinating. Instead of reproaching the procrastinator for their negative behavior, he simply shows you how to do the most important pressing thing on your plate. He couches it in the neat idea of if eating that frog is the worst thing you'll do all day, then after you eat it, it gets better from there. And indeed it does.
What it does is give you a sense of positive affirmation of accomplishment each day. You've done the thing you've been dreading first. You've done it well. You've knocked it out. It's gone and by golly you feel food about it. Now you move on with confidence. Good job! Way to be!
There are many skills set in this slim volume, but that one idea of "eating the frog" was the one that is predominant. It's the hardest, yet most gratifying skill you will learn from the book. It's prioritizing by using what you dread the most, and then destroying it. So not only do you procrastinate less, you prioritize more, become more effective and build confidence to boot.
Winning!
